Professional Development Programme
for Takemusu Aikido Coaches in Ireland
Takemusu Aikido Society is delighted to announce its successful bid for the Erasmus+ Sport Staff Mobility Programme, securing funding for its new initiative: “Professional Development Programme for Takemusu Aikido Coaches in Ireland.”

This project will offer Dublin coaches a unique professional development opportunity at Gothenburg Aikido Club in Sweden. They will gain invaluable insights into advanced teaching methodologies through structured job-shadowing, knowledge exchange, and direct mentorship from Ulf Evenås, an 8th Dan Aikido master and one of the highest-ranked instructors in the world. This immersive experience will enhance their technical mastery and pedagogical skills, empowering them to bring world-class instruction back to Ireland.

Designed to raise coaching standards, foster intercultural learning, and strengthen Ireland’s grassroots martial arts community, the initiative supports the EU’s commitment to lifelong participation in sport and the professional development of volunteers in community organisations.

“This is a transformative moment for our club,” said Raman Bekarevich, Head Instructor of Takemusu Aikido Society. “The support from Erasmus+ recognises the dedication and hard work of our volunteer coaches and offers a rare opportunity to strengthen ties with leading European clubs. The experience and insight we bring back will not only enrich training in our own dojo, but also help raise the standard of Aikido across Ireland.”

The Erasmus+ Sport Staff Mobility grant supports sports organisations in enhancing coaching excellence and organisational resilience, ensuring sustainable growth for community-based clubs like Takemusu Aikido Society.

Based in Dublin, Takemusu Aikido Society offers traditional Aikido classes at Balbriggan Clubs Community Centre and Ringsend & Irishtown Community Centre, with a focus on martial arts values, personal development, and community engagement. Welcoming practitioners of all ages and backgrounds, the Society is committed to providing an inclusive and respectful training environment.
